The Dancing Crinoidea Light

The Dancing Crinoidea’s form and function were guided by the question: How can we build objects as physical interfaces where interaction doesn’t just take place on a dedicated screen or switch, but throughout the entirety of the object?

The form resulting from this investigation demonstrates an attention to movement and adaptation. It’s choreography communicates the potential to percieve an object as something more reciprocal of engagement.

The petal shaped segments and central connecting body of the Dancing Crinoidea were made from CNC cut aluminum. The threaded socket components were 3D printed and made to easily secure to the center of the fixture and replaced if needed.
